This procedure uses the patient’s own fat, which is collected from an inconspicuous donor area. It is then utilized to fill in grooves, folds, or areas of soft tissue depression. The procedure is often used to minimize skin indentation, depressed scars, or deep wrinkles. Fat grating is also being used to successfully enlarge thin lips.

An estimated 80 million adults in the United States are affected by spider veins, also referred to as telangiectasia or broken capillaries. They can appear anywhere on the body, most commonly found on the face and legs and look like red or purple sunbursts or web patterns. Although spider veins are hereditary, pregnancy and hormonal changes are believed to be contributing factors.

We use two methods for removal of spider veins, one is called sclerotherapy. It is a safe and effective procedure that is performed in our office with minimal discomfort. A sclerosing (hardening) solution is injected with a very small needle into the vein which causes the vein to close up or collapse. Generally, this treatment may require multiple treatment sessions.

The other procedure is with the use of our Laser. Laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive or non-surgical procedure to remove unwanted spider veins with no documented side effects.

This laser procedure uses small beams of light energy aimed at a targeted vein. As a result of the heat produced by the laser, the vein will be treated and subsequently disappear. This treatment may take 30 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area and the number of veins treated. Some patients may experience minor discomfort following the treatment, but we recommend you resume normal activities following the treatment.

We typically ask that you wear a compression bandage and/or support hose for a few days following the treatment. Walking and moderate exercise may also help speed recovery.
